My Start to 2023!

Jan 18, 2023

It’s 2023 and I’m back from my month off!

Yes, I did say a month!

I seriously checked out from both school and my business when the semester ended and came out of hermit mode this week, just in time for the start of the semester.

Trust me, I know how blessed I am to be in a position where I can take a month off and this is never taken for granted.

During that time off, I traveled home to Louisiana and spent the holidays with my family.

If you know anything about the Five Love Languages, quality time is one of my top two. So, let’s just say, my soul was fed, and my love tank was filled (reference to Vicki from The Real House of Orange County) as I got to spend time with family and friends.

Upon returning back to Virginia, I spent the next two weeks reflecting about the past year and making plans for my future. Goal setting has really become one of my favorite things.

One of my biggest lessons for 2022 was the realization that I was in somewhat of a holding pattern. In certain areas of my life, I was in a “let’s wait and see” mode. That only works for so long with me.

So, that ends in 2023 and I’m getting back in the driver’s seat.

I have in the works some major changes for my life and I’m excited to see how everything will unfold. It's a little too early to share any details, but I’m ready to shake things up.

Also, I don’t have all the answers, actually I don’t have any answers.

And I’m okay with that. This may seem scary and a little risky to not have full-fledged plan, but there’s so much fun to be found in experimenting (remember, that was my 2022 word of the year).

Which brings me to my Word of the Year for 2023. I, actually, have 2: Actualization and Allow.

I chose Actualization because I want to make sure that I am following through on my goals and that I’m bringing things to completion.

Although, I may not have a lot of answers now; I do know that as I start taking intentional action toward what I want, the paths and opportunities will make themselves known.

I chose my second word, Allow, as a reminder that I’m not in control 100% of the time and I can’t be too rigid about how I choose to do things.

Allowing is also about me being aligned with my higher self and creating the space to allow what is meant for me, to come to me, so that, I can take the necessary steps and actualize my vision for my life.

So, I’ll close by saying:

2023, I’m ready for you and it’s going to be great!
